I really liked this workshop and felt that it has alot of important information that will help determine what subject I will choose for my project. I thought the section that asks important questions like: Do I find the topic interesting, will it keep my attention for a long period of time, does the subject directly relate to communication, is there enough information to cover my topic... these are all very important factors to consider, for me one of the ones that might be tricking is whether there is enough information to cover this topic. This was a very helpful workshop.

This workshop is an awesome jumpstart to getting the wiki project going. if you have an idea, you have to make sure you are interested, have access to the right people and info, and it needs to relate to communication. The example wiki was probably the most interesting. it shows a good example, but my question is: can we do it in a "how-to" format? I think that people looking for info about a subject are trying to make a decision. A how-to wiki could be fairly objective and outline pros and cons and all of the things that consumers want to know. This may not be appropriate for some subjects.

I always enjoy reading the workshops and getting a better understanding of it. I think it's interesting to get get topic out of your head and write them down and then base the communication element after wards. I found that a great way to start this wiki project page. Always at first I have no ideas or I have a million ideas bouncing through my brain but this time I have one topic in mind but my biggest issue is creating a good research question to go along with it. I do enjoy the sample provided because now I have something to go off of and try to think of something that can be fun and exciting but also informational and super interesting. I look forward to discussing more with you and my group to ask further questions I may have. But for now topics. You got to start somewhere and I just hope I can create a great topic with your format guidelines.

This workshop helped me narrow down anything that has communication in it. Although I needed more narrowing down or at least a list of endless types of communication that also involve the Internet. I had a hard time thinking of different topics I could research. I still need more thought and more suggestions because when I try to think about a topic or three different topics, I am not thinking about all the topics I could do. I would have liked more help with that to make my topic selection easier. Although this was a good way of letting me know what I can and cannot do and what I should focus on the most.

This workshop has enable me to have a better and clear about how to find, work and think of my wiki project, and it has also given me ideas to start working on. i know there must be some issues with the topics i am going to be working on, but i think i can be able to work things out somehow. However, this workshop makes us understand how to start looking for a topic, and it also helps to rationalize the way of working on topics to be studied. This workshop tell you pretty much what to do, and how to do it, we just need to come up with a good topic and start working on it.

I knew that we had to create our own Wiki page from the start of the semester and to be honest, I was really worried and concerned about what topic I should choose but after going through this workshop I would say that I am a lot more confident going into this project. I really appreciated that this workshop had guided questions about choosing our topic.. they were almost like bullet points I can go through and check off when going through my options..”Am I interested enough on this topic to spend ours of research on it?”…”Can I gather enough information?”..etc. Very helpful!

This workshop was very helpful. The workshop gave me some good points and ideas on to pick a topic. I am thinking about doing skype or itunes but it is still up in the air. i want to know if you could help me on finding a more interesting topic. Finding something that deals with communition is very difficult because there are so many interesting thing to talk about. The book is going to be great start for doing this wiki.

this assignment got me to begin thinking of a topic for our wiki assigment, i had a very cloudy idea of what it is about but now i understand a little bit better. It is very hard to find something that you want to research for an extended amount of time and these slides made me think about how much time i want to put into something i really have to like. I think ideas have to be searched before a project is started just to make sure we have enough stuff to research

This workshop helped me out a lot. I now have a better reference to help me when I start my project. The slides gave me some interesting pointers in figuring out a topic. The example wiki helped me visually get an idea of how my own page should look like. The three topics I came up with are distinctly different from each other which I think gives me more variety in my choice. This is my first time completing a project online. I am having a little trouble finding the communication element of each of the three topics I have in mind.

I really enjoyed this workshop! Especially because I just couldn't narrow down what I really wanted to do. I had some crazy ideas and realized after going through this workshop that some of those ideas were completely off target with the project. I really liked the tips that you had for this project. So now I have questions that I can ask myself to make sure that I am on target and focused on the project. Just like everyone else, the example project was a great deal of help. Thanks for providing that bad boy for us! :) excited to see how it all turns out!

I kind of had an idea of what I wanted to do, but after reading the wiki it has made it more than clear of the direction I should be heading into. I was worried about this wiki because because I thought it was going to be this crazy complex project worth so many point but now it seems like more of an exploring kind of thing and with some time and effort I don't think it'll be that hard to do. I like the workshop because it showed how simple a topic can be and still have a communications element to it just because that is is our major, duh!

I really liked this workshops since it really got me asking myself "what should I research?" The tips on scholarly articles and the idea of choosing something that I am really interested in researching is a great point. This will be my second time creating a Wiki page and I am excited to see how the projects turn out. I am still struggling with what topics to research at least if I take some time and think about it, I can make sure I am choosing something that I am interested in. I feel like so far that we have covered a wide range of topics that all evolve around the internet and communication so it shouldn't be too hard. I agree with a few others that a list of sample topics would be nice just to have a general idea.

This workshop was helpful in a sense that it gave me tips as to how to pick the right topic. Quite frankly, I have no idea what I want to do so by having an outline on how to chose a legit topic is very helpful. I am hoping that I will be able to find something that really sparks my interest so I do not lose interest in whatever I choose to do. I also like Nico's idea of doing a "how to" wiki because it seems as if that could be helpful for those wiki users that are looking for specifics on how to do something or how something works. I am excited to do this project because it is different from what other classes require. I think that applying a communication aspect should not be hard since there are so many different areas that we can look at and apply.

Great and wonderful wiki. One of those things that you don't really think about until you get into the project. Just recently I had a 1500 word paper due in another class and I did a topic that was very interesting to me. However it was too broad and I wouldn't have been able to get enough research on it, so I had to switch topics. I think more importantly than anything is finding something that has plenty of research on it. Even though you may love the topic you're speaking on, it might be hard as hell to find anything about it. This project looks like it requires a lot of information so doing anything too specific like Friendster might be too difficult to make an entire "communication" based project.

I was not sure what the wiki projects were going to include, but after this workshop I feel more informed. The example wiki page was very helpful to get an idea of what the page should look like and what elements it should include I know I will be looking back on that when I start my project. The tips in the wiki were good for brainstorming and helped me realize that I should really pick a topic that I am interested in since I will be spending a good amount of time researching. The workshop is beneficial for forming tentative ideas and hopefully I will pick a good topic!

Wow, just when I was getting used to our weekly schedule, bam, change! I am pretty certain my topic fits the criteria for the Wike project. I'm eager to get into the Workshop task and actually do the check-offs and see where I stand in the end. I don't really have any back-up ideas at this point, though, so I guess I better start brainstorming. I'm good at drag and droping youtube video, so looking at Franks wiki page was calming and helpful. I am glad we are delving into this now so we can think and process our thoughts over many beers during spring break! Are we there yet?

This wiki workshop was a good kickoff point for us to start our projects. As of right now I am COMPLETELY blacnk on what I would like to do mine on. I realize the topic is extremely broad but I just cant seem to put my finger on anything specific that I can become an expert about. I am beginning to brainstorm and will bring some ideas to class and hopefully my classmates can assist me. I want to do something unique so it is a learning experience for both me and the class. We'll see what I come up with. Good workshop overall!

This is a great workshop to start off the wiki project. It gave me a lot of good advise on how to choose a topic that won't make me go crazy. I am still trying to come up with some good topic ideas, but I think I defiantly want to do something about music. The schedule change has really messed with me (I almost forgot to do this workshop), but soon we will be working on our wiki pages and the schedule will lighten up. Can't wait to hear the ideas my croup mates glacé come up with as well, hopefully their input will point me in a direction for a topic.

I am extremely excited to do my wiki page. I have never made one before, and I feel it will be a useful tool in the long run. I am still a little skeptical on the topic I want to do it on, but there are many ideas out there. I have been thinking about things I use all day everyday, and my I phone is one of them. This would work great because it contains both the Internet and applications like facebook that we have been discussing so much in class. This would also have communication related to it as well.

Im glad we had this workshop to clear up the details and give us instructions on how to pick a topic. I wasn't sure what to do my project on but after this workshop I have a couple ideas to choose from. Each slide had great tips on how to begin brainstorming topics. The example wiki page was very helpful. Know I have a good idea on what I need to do to complete this project. Im sure once we get into class and talk amongst each other our ideas on what to do this project on will be more clear.

I have anticipated completing the Wiki Project since we first spoke of it in class. My 3 topics are Online Charities->Pepsi Refresh Project, Net Neutrality, and Censorship (1st Amendment and self-censorship) RESEARCHING IS MY FAVORITE PART OF SCHOOL and always has been so having an abundant amount of information is what I look for. The workshop was short, straight, concise and to the point. It did offer really important questions that each of us should address: Am I interested to spend many hours researching this topic? YES! (all three unfortunately) Is it possible to cover my topic in the time I have with information I can gather? I BETTER! Do I have ready access to the people, places, information you need to address my topic? DOING THAT RIGHT NOW! So I'm ready to get going with the assignment if only I could be a more decisive person and choose which topic I want to move forward with. What was really important for me was reviewing the sample to know what features to include, the setting, and structure; it helped formalize how want to address whichever topic (I hopefully soon) choose.

I think this workshop has helped me to understand the way i should start looking for Research project, and also it has given me new ideas about what to look for. there is lots of different things that we should be looking for when doing research, and being pragmatic is one of those. i will definitely look for something that interest me, and something i can spend enough time to make it work better.

The Wiki workshop is definitely going to take some time and organization in order to fully create a good presentation. The workshop helped me with my proposal because it helped guide me as to the specifics that are required for our wiki site. I have chosen to do mine on dating and social media sites. I have always found this topic to be interesting because this topic deals with the interent and the way we network or build relationships. The small problems that persist around online dating are security issues, accessibility, and dating success. All of these small problems are constantly being updated in order to give users a better experience, and help them find lasting relationships. We can use research like this to analyze the communication patterns that people carry with them as they create their identities online.
