Quiz Make-up and Late Paper Policy

If you are experiencing life issues that impact your ability to perform in this class, including but not limited to health, work, or family issues it is critical to contact me as soon as possible. I cannot help you if I don't know what is going on and if you wait I may not be able to do anything for you.

Quizzes

Since online quizzes are available for a week, can be accessed globally from any internet capable computer,in most cases quizzes will not be able to be made up (other than utilizing the make-up/retake opportunity at the end of the semester).

In the event that a long term planned or an unexpected event makes taking a quiz impossible the student is responsible to contact the instructor in a timely manner. In the event of a planned and unavoidable lack of access (eg. military training exercise) the student must make arrangements PRIOR to the event to be accommodated. The instructor will develop an alternate quizzing schedule on a case-by-case basis. For unexpected events (accidents, emergencies, etc.) that result in multiple days of incapacitation the student must make arrangements as soon as possible after the fact to be accommodated. Excessively tardy requests for accommodation will not be granted. For example, a family emergency requires a student to leave town for a week. The student returns to class and a week later asks to make-up a missed quiz. This is too late and will not be allowed.

Late Assignments

Listed deadlines for assignments are the LAST DAY they are accepted. Students are encouraged NOT to wait until the end of the turn-in period to submit required work. Students are encouraged to submit assignments as soon as they are completed. Assignments are due as scheduled in the syllabus. Technical difficulties such as internet access or computer problems will not be accepted as excuses.

Late assignments submitted after the time deadline will be immediatelly assessed a 50% point penalty. Once the assignment due date has passed students will receive no credit. Discussion posts must have the minimal time seperation indicated to count. Discussion posts will not be accepted after the discussion week closes. In most cases discussion cannot be made-up and an alternative assignment may be given instead.
